The DVC6200 is the upgraded successor to the Fisher DVC2000. Also HART-based, it supports full configuration, calibration and diagnostics via the 475 field communicator, and adds features such as an auto travel-calibration button and analog output activation. It suits all types of pneumatic control valves. This article organizes the complete DVC6200 commissioning workflow in five parts: 475 communicator calibration, guided setup (full initialization), feedback commissioning, auto-calibration button activation, and tuning.

Overview and Wiring

The DVC6200 is loop powered with 4–20 mA two-wire wiring, similar to the DVC2000: signal loop (IN+/IN-), position feedback output (separately supplied, 9–30 VDC) and limit switches (separately supplied, 4.3–30 VDC). HART communication connects through the signal loop.

Commissioning Procedure

Valve calibration with the 475 communicator

• Enter the interface and select HART
• Select Online, press Enter
• If an alert is present, select YES and press Enter
• From the Online menu select Configure, press Enter
• Select the Calibration menu, press Enter
• Select Auto Calibration
• At the warning select Out of Service
• Select CONTINUE, press Enter, then select Travel Control
• The valve auto-calibrates; wait without operating anything
• When calibration completes, confirm with OK
• Return to In Service — calibration is finished

Guided setup calibration (full initialization)

• Select HART → Online → Configure → Guided Setup
• Select Device Setup; at the warning select Out of Service
• Select pressure units (e.g. PSI)
• Select amplifier type: A or C for single/double acting; B for reverse-acting positioners
• Select Travel Control
• Select Fisher as the actuator manufacturer
• Select model and size from the actuator nameplate
• Choose valve fails open or closed per your conditions
• The positioner auto-detects the travel sensor direction
• Specify whether quick-exhaust and flow amplifiers are present
• Send the device setup data
• Accept factory defaults with YES
• Run the travel calibration: OK → YES
• After auto-calibration completes, restore In Service

Feedback commissioning (analog output activation)

• Configure → Manual Setup
• Change mode protection from In Service to Out of Service
• Select Outputs → Output Terminal
• Select Enable, press Enter
• Be sure to select Send to complete the setting
• Return the valve to In Service

Activating the auto travel-calibration button

• First set the valve to Out of Service
• Manual Setup → Instrument → Terminal Box
• Select Calibration Button, press the right key
• Select Autocal, press Enter
• Select Send to complete the setting

Tuning

• Manual Setup → Tuning → Travel Tuning
• Select Travel Tuning Set
• Use the up/down keys to choose C–M (C slowest, M fastest)
• Confirm the appropriate tuning
• Be sure to click Send
• Finally return the valve to In Service

Important: after all settings are complete the valve must be returned to In Service, otherwise remote control will not work.
